Chatting to a Sony PR about the possibility of a sequel to not-so-great PS3 action exclusive Heavenly Sword, late last year, I was told that the developers – Ninja Theory, not Team Ninja, though I’m sure there’s some inspiration in there somewhere – had ‘gone multi-platform’. Today, I decided to look at their site to shed light on what they’re doing next.
Well, I didn’t learn much, but the environmental concept art on their ‘downloads’ page implies that it’s post-apocalyptic in some way, while the front of the site says this about the untitled project:
“Right now we’re working on an exciting new concept that has got everyone we talk to buzzing. We can’t say a lot except that it’s going to be great to work on and should be even better to play! It’ll take all the things we loved about Heavenly Sword and make them bigger and better than ever before.”
So, what things were there to love about Heavenly Sword? Well, the cinematics, and that was about it. Everything else was solid, including the God of War-lite combat, but it was too short, too restrictive and too repetitive. Here’s to their next project making a weightier impact.
